ASPIRE has a number of programs available to creative students across multiple art forms. These programs are open to all interested students and places allocated on a first come first served basis.
They provide students with high quality arts experiences with a focus on creating a safe space in which to be creative and collaborate with like-minded peers. All programs have a performance outcome designed to celebrate the work of and inspire confidence in the young creatives.
Concert Band
The ASPIRE Concert Band is a Diocesan ensemble for students in Years 5-12. It is suitable for students who can at least play at a 1st grade (AMEB) level as well as students of a more advanced ability, 4th grade (AMEB) and above. The ensemble is not suitable for beginner students.
Instruments include: Flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, bass clarinet, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, french horn, euphonium, tuba, mallet/auxiliary percussion and drum kit. The band is not suitable for string or piano players.

This program offers students the opportunity to participate in a 2-day intensive contemporary dance and collaborative choreographic program.
Stage 2 and 3 students will be provided with a dance and performance art experience that is inclusive, non-competitive, creative and collaborative, and that reflects the working processes of the professional industry. Students will be encouraged to have a voice as they create an original dance work which will be presented in a studio setting at the end of the project.
Stage 4-6 students will create a choreographic artwork to be filmed and edited by a professional director and videographer. They will work as groups and solo alongside ASPIRE’s Dance Director, Lauren Harvey to achieve a unique piece to use for show reel and content purposes.
Stage 2 & 3 Stage 4-6Junior Theatre Makers
Junior Theatre Makers is a drama workshop and performance program designed for years 5 – 8. Students participate in a weekly drama workshop program that looks at developing skills in drama and performance as they create an original piece for inclusion in a performance showcase at the end of Term 3.
Senior Theatre Makers
Senior theatre Makers is a program running in Term 4 for Secondary students in year 9 upwards. Over the course of the term students will work with Aspire’s Artistic Director and Intern to create an original performance that will be staged at the Civic Playhouse in December. The program seeks to inspire creativity and develop skills in performance such as voice and characterisation as well as providing a fun, inclusive environment for keen drama students to collaborate and share ideas.
VOICEWORX
The focus will be on vocal ensemble music, particularly choral repertoire of all styles including traditional, popular and contemporary music that is interesting and challenging. There will be 6 choirs total – 5 Primary choirs that will be based in regions, and 1 Secondary choir – Years 7-12.
The program will be run by a team of experienced Vocal Directors and Assistants under the direction of Aspire Musical Director Jessica Lopez.
The choirs will perform at various diocesan and community events and concerts.
