It is essential that students be prepared to thrive in a constantly evolving technological landscape where they require skills such as collaboration, communication, creativity, innovation and critical thinking. Digital innovation and learning in Catholic schools across the Diocese of Maitland-Newcastle incorporates a range of technology and provides students with opportunities to develop these skills. Students leverage the technology as they take an active role in their learning.

Our schools integrate a variety of digital tools and online services throughout the curriculum, and through the general capabilities strands of the curriculum, to enhance student’s digital literacy. Innovative and varied means of learning are encouraged which enrich the curriculum and provide students with authentic learning opportunities that prepare them for the future. Digital innovation and learning enables students to leverage technology for their learning and utilise it in a hands-on approach that enables students to explore and develop ICT capabilities in order to become effective and critical users of information and communication technologies, becoming confident developers of digital solutions.

Students utilise digital innovation and learning tools to engage in multiple modes of learning experiences and ways of demonstrating what they have learned, thereby enhancing student’s understanding and engagement.
