Please see below a list of parent and carer information webinars, offered by reputable providers over the coming weeks. These webinars are free to attend and may assist parents and carers in supporting the learning and wellbeing of their child. For more information relating to these webinars, please click on the host and registration links provided.

In addition, parents and carers can access School TV at any time via their child’s school’s website, by typing ‘School TV’ in the search function (there, you will short videos, fact sheets and special reports on a variety of topics including Cyber Safety, Mental Health, Positive Parenting, School Survival, Diversity and Inclusion and Health Bodies).

Teen Mental Health Matters: For Parents and Carers 

Tuesday 15 and Tuesday 29 April, 6.30pm – 7.30pm

An insightful and empowering webinar focused on providing strategies and resources to help parents, carers and educators on supporting teens.

Delivered by a Clinical Psychologist facilitator, and Black Dog Institute lived experience presenter, the webinar will explore:

  • How to make sense of adolescence
  • Identify signs of mental health struggles.
  • Understand how to support your teen.
  • Know where you and your teen can get support.

Understanding the NDIS Webinar Series: Pathway to post school life

Wednesday 16 April, 6pm-7pm and Tuesday 29 April, 1.00pm-2.00pm 

When an NDIS participant leaves school, there are a number of pathways and supports available to help young people build skills to prepare for their transition from school and support them in achieving employment and other goals. Their choice depends on their aspirations, skills, abilities and interests.

This webinar will help students with a disability, their parents, carers and education professionals to learn about the supports available to help them prepare for employment after school.

Parental controls can be a useful addition to the strategies you use to help protect your child online. Parental controls can help keep children and young people by preventing access to harmful content, managing time spent online and who they communicate with.

Sexual extortion or ‘sextortion’ is a form of blackmail where someone threatens to share a nude or sexual image or video of a person unless their demands are met.

Sexual extortion is a serious, growing online concern, especially for young people. But what exactly is it? What conversations may help prevent it and how can you support your child if they’re targeted?

This 30-minute webinar will explain:

  • what sexual extortion is
  • the impacts and potential harms sexual extortion may have on young people
  • strategies to support young people who may experience sexual extortion, including how to respond and access support; and how to encourage safer and more positive online interactions.
